Changing the world...

God "showed up" in a big way! Thank you so much for being faithful in this ministry God has entrusted you with.  You are such an encouragement to me as a Sunday School teacher and your lessons are so easy, adaptable and well thought out that I was able to bring something new into my class right away.  The kids really got a kick out of it!  My heart is to bring these kids into God encounters each week and help them go deeper with God.  So I ordered the "Affirming Foundations" lesson book and taught the very first lesson today in my Sunday School class.  Before anyone arrived at church, I set up the classroom for the lesson.  Under each student's chair, I decided to tape a piece of paper with a Scripture from the lesson (I made sure to remember where each Scripture was).  When it was class time, I began by introducing the kids to "soaking time".  These kids had never done this before so I wasn't sure how it would go.  I used the "Soaking In God's Presence" cd for the soaking music and had the kids lay their heads down on the table and close their eyes.  After a few minutes of soaking, one of my students asked if he could draw a picture because he felt God wanted him to draw what he saw while soaking.  Pretty soon, almost the entire class wanted to draw what they saw too.  So while they drew their pictures, I taught.  As I came to each Scripture in the lesson, I would call on a student to look under their seat for "hidden treasure".  They were all excited to see who was next and what Scripture treasure they were sitting on.  When I came to the part in the lesson speaking of how none of us are mistakes or accidents, I asked one of my students to look under her seat and read her "treasure".  She read Psalm 139:14 ("I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." NIV).  Her eyes lit up!  She excitedly told me that the picture she drew was of her standing in God's castle and God was telling her how wonderful she is.  She had a God encounter!  I'm not sure who was more excited; her or me!  I can't wait to teach again next Sunday and see what God has in store for us then.  Thanks Mike and Marilyn for your support and for creating such easy and wonderful lessons that allowed me to effortlessly teach my kids.  The simplicity allowed for the Holy Spirit to move and for us to tap into Papa God's loving heart.  Oh by the way, all the kids that drew pictures had some awesome things to say about what they saw while soaking.  God "showed up" in a big way!

Funny story....last week in the Wed. evening worship service one of the kids was praying w/the prayer minister and the lady they were praying for fell back in the Spirit. The little girl jumped back with her hands up and said, "I didn't do it!" Isn't that cute! Soon things like that will become the norm for the kids! But, for now, it is a new thing!

I am really excited about how the Lord is putting this all together. This week we are focusing on the "King" ... on his love and character. Finishing with a time of sitting in His lap! I can't wait for the stories of what the kids hear and see!

I purchased your  My Heart is a Bucket book when I was at the School of the Prophets at Bethel this past summer.  I am using it in our children's ministry time on Sunday's to help them invite God's presence and hear his voice.

I love the way your lessons prepare the children to recieve, but allow the Holy Spirit to do all of the work.  What a blessing.  We are an Episcopal church, so a lot of this is new to many of our parents, so it should be really exciting.  I'll keep you posted.

Want to hear a praise?  This last Monday I taught lesson one from God's Bucket of Love to a group of Sunday school teachers from various churches in our Area.  During the soaking time, a couple from an evangelical church (both in leadership) joined us.  Many teachers were weeping as God's presence filled the place.  (We only soaked for 5 min. as this was a first for many of them!)  Before the night was over, the man -- in church leadership for years -- accepted Christ as his Savior.  He knew Him in his head, but he never before accepted and experienced Him in his heart!!  Only God!
Thank you for equipping and providing the tools for us to bring Heaven to Earth!!
